Supporting Educational Development
Education is fundamental to the development and future prospects of children and young people. At Cloverdale House, we place a strong emphasis on supporting each young person’s educational journey, recognising that academic achievement and learning are key to building confidence, self-esteem, and long-term success.
While Cloverdale House is not registered as an educational provision, we work in close partnership with schools, Virtual School Heads, and Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) coordinators to ensure that every child’s educational needs are fully met. We advocate for the young people in our care and ensure they have access to appropriate educational placements.
Our home provides a structured learning environment with quiet spaces for study, IT equipment for homework and research, and dedicated staff who support and encourage educational engagement. We also facilitate enrichment opportunities that complement formal education, broadening horizons and developing new skills.

Supporting Special Educational Needs
We are experienced in supporting young people with special educational needs, ensuring that each child receives the tailored support they require to succeed academically and personally.
Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
We work with schools and educational professionals to implement and support Individual Education Plans, ensuring that each young person’s specific learning needs are identified and addressed through tailored strategies and accommodations.
Baseline Assessment
Upon admission, each young person undergoes a comprehensive baseline assessment that evaluates their academic levels, learning style, and any specific learning difficulties. This assessment informs the support we provide and helps identify appropriate educational placements.
Literacy & Numeracy
We provide additional support for literacy and numeracy development, both within the home environment and in partnership with educational providers. This includes homework support, reading practice, and practical numeracy activities.
Outdoor Education
We facilitate access to outdoor education opportunities, including farm-based learning at Green Acres Farm and other experiential learning environments. These activities develop practical skills, confidence, and a love of learning beyond the classroom.
Comprehensive Assessment
Our assessment process considers specific learning difficulties, EHCP status, and all relevant academic information. We ensure that no aspect of a young person’s educational profile is overlooked, and that appropriate support and adjustments are in place.
Educational Support Outside School Hours
We recognise that learning doesn’t stop when the school day ends. Our team works closely with schools to understand each young person’s rules, expectations, and behaviour systems, ensuring consistency between the home and school environment.
We track and monitor school attendance carefully, addressing any concerns promptly and working with education providers to resolve barriers to attendance. We celebrate academic achievements, no matter how small, reinforcing a positive attitude towards learning and personal progress.
The home is equipped with a computer and internet access for educational purposes, and we facilitate access to the Finedon community library for additional learning resources. Our approach is “start as you mean to go on” — we establish positive routines and expectations around education from the very first day of placement.

Enjoyment, Leisure & Achievement
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy life, develop interests, and celebrate their achievements. Our leisure programme is designed to be enriching, fun, and developmental.
Structured Activities
We provide a range of structured activities within the home, including arts and crafts, cooking, sports, and games. These activities are designed to develop skills, promote teamwork, and provide a sense of achievement and enjoyment.
In-House Resources
Our home is equipped with a games room, living room with TV and gaming consoles, a sensory room, and outdoor space. These resources ensure young people always have access to engaging, age-appropriate leisure activities.
Planned Outings
We organise regular planned outings and trips, including visits to local attractions, parks, cinemas, and activity centres. These experiences broaden horizons and create positive memories for the young people in our care.
Community Links
We encourage young people to engage with the local community through clubs, groups, and volunteering opportunities. These connections help build social skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging beyond the home.
Day Trips & Holidays
With our pool car for transportation and a dedicated activity budget, we organise day trips and holidays that provide new experiences, adventure, and opportunities for personal growth and enjoyment.
Recognition of Achievement
We celebrate and recognise every achievement, whether academic, personal, or social. We also support young people in fundraising for charities, developing empathy and a sense of making a positive contribution to the wider world.
Health and Well-being
The physical and mental health of the children and young people in our care is a top priority at Cloverdale House. We are committed to ensuring that every young person has access to the healthcare they need and is supported in developing a healthy lifestyle.
Upon admission, we ensure that each young person is registered with a local GP, dentist, and optician. We facilitate regular health check-ups and ensure that all medical appointments are kept. Staff hold current first aid certification and are trained to respond to health emergencies.
We promote healthy lifestyles through balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and health education. Meal planning involves the young people, teaching them about nutrition and cooking skills, while medication management is handled by trained staff following strict protocols.
