Gannett House — supported accommodation property in Wellingborough
Welcome to Gannett House

Supported Accommodation

Gannett House provide a safe, comfortable, and secure living environment for looked-after children and care leavers aged 16–17 who have relatively high or increasing levels of independence and are ready to gain further skills to prepare for adult living.

Our supported accommodation is designed for young people who do not need the degree of care or type of environment provided in a children’s home or foster care. For young people ready for it, Gannett House provides a nurturing and protective environment where they can thrive and prepare for greater independence.

We provide tailored support for young people with a range of needs, including autistic spectrum disorder, attachment disorder, ADHD, mental health issues, challenging behaviour, moderate learning disabilities, and self-harming behaviours. Our service aligns with the Guide to Supported Accommodation Regulations and Quality Standards.

Our Support Model

Support & Staffing

Our supported accommodation provides stability and consistency for young people, ensuring continuous access to local services such as education and healthcare, and fosters the development of strong relationships within the community.

Shift-Based Staff Team

We have a full team of staff who operate on a shift system, ensuring that one staff member is always available at the service. Additional staff are available when needed — in cases where a young person needs two staff, this is provided as per their care plan.

Sleep-In Overnight Cover

We always have a member of staff sleeping on-site overnight, available to young people in case of emergencies or overnight accidents or incidents. This ensures young people feel safe and supported during nighttime hours.

24/7 On-Call Support

In addition to on-site staff, we have on-call support available for additional assistance as needed. A robust 24/7 on-call system ensures young people and staff can access immediate help in a crisis or emergency.

Independence Programme

Staff support young people in accessing local services, attending meetings, preparing for work and education, and are available in-house to support our independence programme — building skills for budgeting, cooking, personal hygiene, and self-care.

Specialist Support

Young people with SEND or health needs receive tailored care, including access to trained staff, external therapists, and other resources. Floating support is available to provide guidance and practical help as needed.

Community Integration

The accommodation promotes positive self-esteem, protects against stigma, and supports young people to feel confident about their opportunities. We foster the development of strong relationships within the local community.

Journey to Adulthood

Promoting Independence

We are committed to empowering young people to develop the skills, confidence, and resilience necessary to transition to independent living. Through personalised programs, practical support, and continuous monitoring, we help young people achieve their goals and aspirations while fostering a sense of self-reliance.

Skills Development Workshops

Tailored in-house workshops focus on building self-care, independent living, and financial management skills. Topics include budgeting, meal planning, cooking, and managing personal hygiene — with weekly cooking classes helping young people prepare nutritious meals independently.

Education, Training & Employment

We assist young people in enrolling in schools, colleges, or vocational training programs, providing transportation and guidance as needed. We also provide career counselling, CV writing support, and interview preparation, connecting young people with local employment services.

Healthy Living Support

Education on nutrition, exercise, and mental health, emphasizing the importance of a balanced lifestyle. Staff use Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques to encourage constructive behaviours and improve emotional regulation.

Preparing for the Future

We engage with external services — such as housing support and career counsellors — to facilitate a smooth transition to adulthood. Each young person has a tailored independence plan that gradually reduces reliance on staff while building confidence in their abilities.

Oversight

Safety, Privacy & Quality Assurance

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, privacy, and quality across our supported accommodation service.

Regular Assessments

We conduct annual location assessments, incorporating feedback from stakeholders, to ensure the property remains suitable and appropriate for the young people we support.

Health & Safety Reviews

Regular reviews of the premises are conducted to maintain high health and safety and fire regulation standards. The property is fully insured, ensuring coverage for all aspects of the supported accommodation provision.

CCTV & Privacy

CCTV is only installed outside of the property areas (front and rear of the house) and is used in line with privacy guidelines. Arrangements are discussed with the accommodating authority, and consent is obtained from both the young person and the authority.

Accessible Agreements

Young people receive a written agreement in an accessible format outlining their rights, responsibilities, and the terms of their accommodation. This includes clear guidance on how to raise concerns or provide feedback.

24/7 Crisis Support

A robust 24/7 on-call system ensures that young people and staff can access immediate help in a crisis or emergency. In the absence of on-site staff, young people have access to dedicated support lines for urgent assistance.

Partnership with Local Authorities

We collaborate closely with local authorities to achieve outcomes agreed upon in care and pathway plans. We maintain transparent communication and reporting, ensuring accountability and alignment with statutory requirements.

“We believe that young people have a better chance of success when they have the skills and resources required to navigate their next steps towards independence.”
